How to Book or Cancel an Appointment

About our Appointments System

Pre-bookable Appointments

If you would like to see a particular GP or attend on a particular date, you should ask for a routine pre-bookable appointment. These appointments are limited. GP appointments are allocated a time slot of 10minutes. If you have a complicated problem or more than one issue to discuss, please consider booking a double appointment.

Same Day & Emergency Appointments

If you would like a same day appointment you should call us as early as possible between 8am and 10am that morning. Where possible, we will try to accommodate your preference for a particular GP and also preference for morning or afternoon appointment.

We do try to ensure that enough same day appointments are available; however unforeseen circumstances may lead to sudden changes in demand. If all the appointments on a given day have been filled, and you have a medical problem which requires urgent treatment a doctor will triage this and arrange an urgent assessment if clinically indicated.

Extended Hours Appointments

We now offer a limited number of pre-bookable early morning appointments for patients who find it difficult to attend during the working day.

Appointments are available on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 7:30am to 8:30am, and can be booked in advance.

If you are unable to attend during normal working hours, you may book one of these appointments by requesting an "extended hours appointment".


If you anticipate that you may require an examination by the Doctor and feel that you would like a chaperone to be present, please make reception aware at the time of booking your appointment so that this can be arranged. Alternatively bring along a member of your family or friend to your appointment.


Our appointment system is utilised to maximum capacity. Patients are seen every 10 minutes for up to three hours. If you are late for your appointment this leads to knock on delays for every patient after you. We do expect patients to present at or before their appointed time. If you arrive more than 10 minutes late, you will not be seen, and will have to book another appointment.

This will help your doctor or nurse run to time, however at times we may experience delays due to patients experiencing complex medical or emotional problems. We will try to keep you informed of any delays when you arrive for your appointment. We will try to keep any delay to a minimum and would appreciate your patience. If you are concerned about the time you have been waiting, (particularly if you are feeling very unwell) please let our reception staff know.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment please tell us in good time so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

You can use one of the following methods:

  1. Cancel Online using Patient Access:
    Cancel Your Appointment online using Patient Access.
  2. By Telephone:
    Please call us on 0141 889 4088, select Option 1 and leave a message.
  3. By Fax: Please send us a fax on 0141 842 1169.
  4. In Person: Call into your surgery and let the receptionist know in person.
  5. SMS: If you registered for SMS appointment reminders and received a text reminder of your appt, you can reply to this text with the word "cancel" to automatically cancel the appointment.

We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.

As part of our commitment to all our patients we monitor the efficient use of appointments. If a patient regularly fails to attend a booked appointment, the practice reserves the right to remove them and their family from the practice list.

Free Text Reminders

This service reminds you of an appointment via a text message. All registered patients are automatically opted into the service.

Please ensure if you wish to use this service we have your correct mobile telephone number and inform us as soon as possible if your number changes.

If you do not wish to subscribe please contact the surgery and inform reception that you wish to opt out.
